Tunneling
A burn fault in which the ember bores a tunnel through the filler while the wrapper remains standing.
In tunneling only the inside of the cigar is burning: the filler glows ahead while the binder and wrapper remain unburnt — the smoke becomes thin and flat. Common causes are drawing too infrequently, overly damp storage, or a hastily and unevenly lit foot. The remedy: ash away the protruding edges, carefully re-light the rim of the ember, and return to a steady rhythm of about one draw per minute.
