Puro
Spanish for "cigar" — internationally, a cigar whose tobaccos come entirely from one country.
In Spanish-speaking countries the word simply means any cigar. Internationally the term carries a more specific meaning: a cigar in which the filler, binder, and wrapper all come from the same country. Every Habano is by definition a puro; in the New World cross-country blends are the norm, so New World puros — from Nicaragua or Mexico, for instance — are considered a conscious commitment to the country’s own terroir.
