Pigtail

A small twisted finish at the head of the cigar in place of the smooth cap.

In a pigtail, the torcedor twists the protruding wrapper end at the head into a fine braid or knot rather than gluing it under a round cap. The finish is a craft signature — it shows that the work was done by hand, and traditionally adorns certain vitolas and special editions. Smoking proceeds as usual: the pigtail is cut along with the shoulder in the normal way, or carefully twisted off.
