Oscuro
The darkest wrapper colour on the scale — almost black and correspondingly rare.
Oscuro marks the dark end of the colour scale, which begins with light Claro and passes through Colorado and Maduro. The near-black leaves mostly come from sun-ripened tobacco from the upper primings and undergo an especially long fermentation; in terms of flavour they tend towards earthy depth and dark sweetness. As elsewhere on the scale, the colour describes only the wrapper, not the strength of the cigar.
