Nub
The short end piece that remains once a cigar has been smoked well down.
The nub is the final stretch of a cigar, just before heat and bitterness call time. Because oils and condensate migrate towards the head as you smoke, this last piece tastes strongest and densest — for some aficionados the high point, for others the moment to let the cigar go out with dignity. There is no fixed rule: taste and temperature decide when it ends, not the tape measure.
