Maduro
A dark-brown wrapper colour whose depth comes from especially long, intense fermentation.
Maduro means “ripe” — the dark tone comes from long, warm fermentation and ageing, not from dyes. Maduro wrappers tend to bring sweetness, cocoa, and coffee notes; typical origins are Connecticut Broadleaf, the San Andrés valley of Mexico, and Brazil. Dark does not automatically mean strong: a cigar’s strength is determined by the filler, not the colour. Even darker is the near-black Oscuro.
