Ligero
The topmost, sun-nearest leaves of the tobacco plant — thick, oily, and powerful, but slow to burn.
Ligero grows at the very top of the plant, receives the most sun, and delivers strength and spice to a blend. Because the thick, oily leaves burn sluggishly, the torcedor places them at the centre of the filler, surrounded by better-burning tobaccos; in fermentation they require the longest time of all leaf positions. Below them sit the aromatic Seco and the mild, combustion-friendly Volado.
