Gordo (Spanish for “fat”) denotes the thickest straight formats, typically around ring gauge 60 at roughly six inches in length. The generous girth tends to draw cool and pushes the filler blend to the fore, while the wrapper’s share of the flavour recedes. The format found its audience above all in the New World — a step up in girth from robusto and toro, with a smoking time to match.
