Canoeing
A burn fault in which the cigar burns down one side only — the hollowed-out channel resembles a canoe.
In canoeing, the ember races ahead on one side while the other stays cold; the burnt-out channel gives the fault its name. Common causes are a foot lit unevenly, overly damp or unevenly humidified storage and wind — a construction flaw in the filler can also be to blame. Touching up the lagging side with the flame and rotating the cigar as you smoke usually sets things right; the complementary burn fault is tunnelling, where the ember races ahead on the inside rather than along one outer edge.
